Sabine Morak

Born in Austria’s rural South, where elements
of the Germanic, Slavic, and Romance cultures
interact fruitfully, though not always free of
conflict. She soon realized that her limited
capacity for teamwork, singing, and melancholy
made her unsuitable for a career in one of the
numerous choirs of her home province, which
is famous for its highly developed folk song
culture. Being granted enough space for
individual expression by The Ladies, she
proved able to develop her capacity for
sociability. Her passion for singing and the
traces of melancholy she retained despite the
struggles of urban life find their way into her
interpretations of Schubert, for instance.
